Unlike many products and lice treatments in stores today, our treatment combats super lice and that’s a promise.
What Are Super Lice?
Super lice are basically a more annoying version of regular lice. They look and act the same as regular lice but are resistant to chemicals used in over-the-counter lice treatments. Super lice are more common than regular lice these days and they got their name from the media in the last couple years after public research showed that strains of lice had developed a resistance to pyrethroids, the active pesticide in OTC lice treatments. This makes getting rid of lice harder than when any drugstore lice treatment would do the trick. Unfortunately, many parents don’t know about super lice so their first course of action when finding lice is to go to the store and buy the first lice shampoo kit they find.
Super Lice Research
In 2016, research was published after various studies found that lice sample from 48 states in the U.S carried pesticide-resistant genes. This means that super lice are pretty much in every state and they are most-likely here to stay. They have mutated to become stronger, much like many other species do over time. In 2016, the efficacy of OTC lice treatments dropped from 96 percent in past years to 28 percent in 2016.
